Survey research introduction

In primary care, HSCR is an approved survey research organisation for the implementation of the New Zealand version of the General Practitioner Assessment Questionnaire (NZGPAQ) developed by the National Primary Care Research and Development Centre, University of Manchester and Safran/NEMCH. This patient survey, which HSCR believes is the best vehicle for measuring and benchmarking patient satisfaction with GPs and GP nursing staff, is available free of charge to GPs who wish to carry out the survey by themselves. A charge of NZ$390 per GP is made to those clinics/PHOs/IPAs who require HSCR to assist them with the implementation.
DHBs which are interested in assessing how GPs perceive the quality of services provided by them can request further information on HSCR GP surveys. These surveys are also available on-line from the Web-based NZGPAQ page
In secondary care, HSCR carries out patient surveys for District Health Boards (DHBs) and private hospitals. It has a particular interest in the nation-wide Patient Survey and produces the quarterly New Zealand Patient Satisfaction Index(NZPSI) which report contains patient satisfaction rates obtained in all New Zealand DHBs.
The pivotal role that staff play in the delivery of good quality care is reflected in the staff surveys HSCR implements out in GP clinics, Independent Practitioner Association (IPAs) and Public Health Organisations (PHOs.
